Our Classes
Simple, safe, and fun.
Whether it’s your child’s first experience with lacrosse or their hundredth, the Little Lacrosse Academy allows them to strengthen their skills in a fun, positive, noncompetitive environment. Every concept we teach is led with encouragement and every accomplishment is celebrated with excitement to build self-confidence. Learn more about our age-specific classes offered year-round below.
Cradle Babies
1 – 2 year olds
Cradle Babies is a 50-minute parent/child class designed for boys and girls ages one to two years old. Walking must be mastered in order for a child to attend. Cradle Babies is meant to serve as a fun introduction to the Little Lacrosse Academy, but is not a required starting point. This program is centered on discovery and repetition and introduces basic movement in an engaging way that not only builds an appreciation for physical activity, but helps to develop fine and gross motor skills. Over the course of a session, children, with the help of their parents and a coach, will build such skills such as balance, attempt to mimic movements, explore pace (tiptoe/walk/run), discover the spectrum of colors, and engage with peers; all while building confidence and a love for lacrosse.
All equipment is provided and no prior lacrosse experience is required.
Tiny Tots
2 – 3 year olds
Tiny Tots is a 50-minute parent/child class designed for boys and girls ages two to three years old. It is an ideal next step for Little Lacrosse Academy veterans or an introductory class for new players who are not yet ready for the independence required of Fiddlesticks. Tiny Tots introduces children and their parents to organized games that develop the concept of teamwork and build fundamental social, cognitive, and physical skills; all while building confidence and a love for lacrosse.
All equipment is provided and no prior lacrosse experience is required.
Fiddlesticks
3 – 4 year olds
Fiddlesticks is a 50-minute class designed for boys and girls three to four years old. It is an ideal next step for Little Lacrosse Academy veterans or an introductory class for new players. Establishing independence in play is a key component for Fiddlesticks. Children who are ready to be on the field without a parent, thrive in this class. Over the course of a session, children will master movement (with and without the ball), develop agility, improve their cradle, master a groundball pickup, explore passing and catching; all which fosters an understanding of teamwork and builds a love for lacrosse.
All equipment is provided and no prior lacrosse experience is required.
Laxaroos
4 – 5 year olds
Laxaroos is a 50-minute youth development program for boys and girls ages four to five years old. These fast-paced, team-oriented “practices” are an ideal introduction to the more structured world of organized youth lacrosse but provide the same fun and nurturing concepts the Little Lacrosse Academy prides itself on. While lacrosse fundamentals will continue to be a major focus, cultivating a sense of team and fostering cooperation will be a point of emphasis.
As the session progresses, children are given the opportunity to practice these skills in more one-ball oriented activities and scrimmages (what we call “Team Play”). Team Play is non-competitive and teaches players the value of effort, teamwork, and good sportsmanship, all while developing a love for the sport of lacrosse.
All equipment is provided and no prior experience is required.
Skill Builder
6 – 7 year olds
Our Skill Builder Program is a 50-minute youth development program for boys and girls ages six to seven years old. These fast-paced, team-oriented “practices” are an ideal introduction to the more structured world of organized youth lacrosse but provide the same fun and nurturing concepts the Little Lacrosse Academy prides itself on. While lacrosse fundamentals will continue to be a major focus, cultivating a sense of team, fostering cooperation, and having fun will be a point of emphasis. Our program is perfect for new players who have no prior lacrosse experience as well as veterans looking to build their IQ for spring.
Girls and boys are required to wear a mouth guard every class. Children can bring their own equipment if they desire, otherwise all other necessary equipment will be provided. Boys are required to wear a helmet; gloves are optional. Girls are required to wear goggles. All drills and games are low contact.
